Gearing Up For Hot Summer Ride

motorcycle clothing manufacturers offer gears
Summer has arrive, and for many this season is vacation time! Well, if you are a rider, it is the great time to get your motorcycle gears and go for an exciting ride. However, the bright day of summer brings both advantage and disadvantage. Advantage since it leaves you no worries about the cold, the slippery road, and the occasional rain fall. Disadvantage, because the hot weather can be uncomfortable for you to ride your bike leading you to more stops for shade. While it seems to be more comfortable for a rider to ride without a jacket, protection is still a major consideration . You surely would not want your tattoo to get erased by the asphalt afterall.

Spring and summer are usually the best riding seasons. On the other hand, some states in the US (especially those in southern states) the climate can be too hot to bear, unless they ride prepare. Fortunately, motorcycle clothing manufacturers offer gears specialized to keep riders cool during warm riding days. Here are few reminders to keep cool in your hot summer ride.

Consider the riding route:

In the United States, using the freeways can make travel a lot faster, but they involve direct sunlight which can be uncomfortable in the long run. Nothing could be more troublesome than breaking on the road with no shade, exposed to the scorching sun, dressed in an uncomfortable gear that you simply cannot take off for your safety. Choose the freeway if you are in a rush, but better ride before the sun gets too hot. Considerations in choosing the route:
  • Shade – To avoid the sun, look for route lined with trees. A tree-lined roads like those country roads are normally cooler, not to mention, they offer great ride with good amount of curves and hills.
  • Stop Lights – Avoid roads that you know have many stops. This is not only uncomfortable for you being directly exposed under the sun, but also your bike can easily get hot. The health of your motorcycle is equally important and during long stops, air or water-cooled engines may both suffer.
  • Traffic and road repairs – Motorcycles often don't have problems with traffic, but it is something that should be avoided at all cost during summer together with road repairs. You cannot afford to stay soaked under the sun so as much as possible make sure there is no road repairs in your planned route.
  • If you are to unexpectedly get stuck in a traffic and you are likely to be there in few minutes, better turn off your engine to prevent it from getting too hot.

Riding necessities in hot weather:

  • Hydration pack – Take plenty of water with you. A rider must bring water to last at least half day. Having enough water will keep you refreshed and hydrated essential for the trip.
  • Breathable protective gears – Invest on gears that can provide more ventilation like mesh and textile. They come with removable CE protectors and liners to keep you protected while not sacrificing your comfort.
